Forks Are Good For Eating

Labels: , , ,

I have all the parts I need to get the fork swap done. I just have to wait until Sunday because another FZROnline member is using the threaded rod idea and I want to see how he is going to do it.

I also got a FZR400 frame that is in good shape off of eBay for 60ish bucks. I'm thinking since that frame has the rear set mounts on it, I can switch the frames out so I don't need to find a welder. But then again, it might just be easier to have the mounts welded on.

Write-Up Time....Well Soon Anyway

Labels: , ,

Got my 2002 R1 USD forks today. For a 150 bucks I can't complain.

The reason I said it will soon be write up time is because I need to piece the assembly together. I have the fork tubes, lower triple, wheel and stem but need upper triple, clipons, fender, axle and many small parts. I will getting those over time but I expect to have all the parts needed before May.

Oh, almost forget. I painted the upper fairing. I am not a painter so dont laugh.

FZR's, Cool Runnigs and Chuck Norris

Labels: , , , ,

Ok, this post has nothing to do with Cool Runnings. I'm glad I got that out of the way.

So, today I finished the tail by supporting the middle of it with a piece of aluminum. Before that, if I sat toward the back of it, I would hear it crack which never sounds good. I also trimmed the under tail for the remote reservoir of the rear shock. On top of that, I painted the upper fairing. Its not all that impressive but it will get the job done. I will have pictures up later.

On a side note, I realized I had a Word Press blog from last year. I got an email that someone had commented on one of the posts. It was crazy, when I visited the site, I had 10 posts and each one had no less then 4 comments. So thats why I cannot wait until everyone out there starts to comment here.

I haven't posted there in over a year, but I will give you a link to it. Feel free to leave comment (do that here first tho).

Happy New year to all my readers!

I have the final position of the upper fairing done. Well, its only connected to the fairing stay. Here is a pic.

As far as it starting....So far nothing has happened. I did a valve job this week and only had to do two intake valves. Figured that would help it start. Then I replaced the plugs as the old ones were fouled. Nothing. Cleaned the carb slides because one was a little sticky. And more nothing. There are a few more options that I can do, but after that I may be SOL.

One thing that has me worried is that there were metal shavings where the plugs are. I don't know how they got there, but I am hoping they never got into the cylinders.
